Laura Gioia

Dr. Laura Gioia is a Stroke Neurologist at the Centre Hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal (CHUM), in Montréal, Québec and a Clinical Assistant Professor affiliated with the Department of Neuroscience, University of Montreal since 2015.
Among her many academic interests, her primary research focus aims to optimize management of ischemic and intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) in the hyperacute and acute setting. Currently, Dr. Gioia is developing a program for the collection and analysis of serum biomarkers in acute ischemic stroke and ICH, in collaboration with research teams from the CHUM Research Center (CRCHUM). Her research is currently funded by the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.

To date, Dr. Gioia has published more than 50 scientific articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals, serves as ad-hoc manuscript reviewer for several peer-review journals, and collaborates on several national and international clinical studies. Dr. Gioia is dedicated to the pedagogical development of students in neurovascular health, in terms of clinical teaching and also research where she supervises research projects of residents and master's students.
