Andrew Mould

Andrew Mould is a distinguished Assistant Professor of Neurology at Johns Hopkins University. Andrew brings over a decade of experience in clinical trial science, specializing in innovative methodologies to enhance the effectiveness of large, multi-center clinical trials. His research in neuroimaging analysis has significantly advanced our understanding of intracranial hemorrhage and its treatment, earning him international recognition in the ICH community through his contributions to the MISTIE and CLEAR trials.

As the Director of the DCC at BIOS Clinical Trial Coordinating Center, Andrew has led transformative initiatives such as the Brain Injury Outcomes Neuroimaging Center (BIONIC). Him and his team curated one of the world’s largest repositories of brain hemorrhage and edema data, developing machine learning algorithms for automated blood volume measurement. This tool is currently deployed in the ongoing phase 2a, BEACH trial, studying a new novel small molecule targeting inflammation following ICH.

Beyond neurology, Andrew has been instrumental in directing multi-university collaborative efforts as part of the NIH’s Helping to End Addiction Long-term (HEAL) Initiative and as a leader in the NCATS sponsored Trial Innovation Center which aims to address roadblocks in clinical trials and accelerate the translation of novel interventions into life-saving therapies. His expertise in decentralized clinical trials has advanced data acquisition and processing, leveraging wearable devices, cloud systems, and innovative tools to optimize trial efficiency and accessibility.

Andrew’s contributions to science have earned him multiple honors. Today, he will be presenting on approaches to surgical evacuation and timing.
