Nikola Sprigg

Professor of Stroke Medicine at Nottingham University, and also an Honorary Consultant Physician in Stroke Medicine for Nottingham University Hospitals Trust. Her research interests include developing treatment for haemorrhagic stroke, treatments to improve recovery after stroke and quality of life after stroke. Research into haemostatic approaches to reduce haematoma expansion, the commonest cause of death after intracerebral haemorrhage, include blood pressure lowering, tranexamic acid, recombinant factor VII and desmopressin.

Professor Nikola Sprigg is Chief Investigator of TICH-3 a phase 3 international multi-centre randomised controlled trial testing tranexamic acid in intracerebral haemorrhage and DASH a phase 2 randomised controlled trial testing desmopressin.
